Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training – 2017 Announcement

Responsible Conduct of Research Training – 2017 Announcement

All undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers participating in research at NCAR and UCP are required by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to take Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training.  Graduate student visitors who are here at least one month should also take the RCR training. UCAR offers this training online through CITI Program at no cost to participants.

The RCR training is required to be taken within 4 weeks of starting at UCAR/NCAR.  Lab/program administrators will notify participants of this required training. Participants will receive a certificate of completion once training requirements are fulfilled a copy of which they should provide to their lab/program administrators.  Participants who have taken the RCR training in the last 4 years do not need to take it again and can furnish a copy of their certificates to their lab/program administrators. Each RCR training module takes about 20 minutes to complete, with an overall time commitment of about 3 to 4 hours. To access the RCR training, please connect through CITI Program.

Instructions for CITI Program registration are found via EOD. For UCAR internal training support, please contact Toni Wallace, twallace@ucar.edu.

In addition to the CITI Program training, most of the undergraduate students will also receive training on important topics such as sexual harassment, ethical conduct, and mentoring.  UCAR’s Code of Conduct governs the behavior of all who work or participate in research at our organization.  Providing a safe and respectful workplace is an integral part of our mission to provide science in service to society.
